It’s been pretty silent here for a long while & It’s been pretty silent here for a long while & I wanted to let you know a little bit about why…
April 16th, the day before Easter, my father collapsed in his bedroom and was rushed to the hospital.
This incident alone set the stage for what was to come months out & still today.
As many of you know, my mother has Alzheimer’s & my Dad is/was her caretaker, but he needs a lot of care himself.
My 2 older brothers & I have begged my parents for 5 or so years to get into a better living situation that met both of their needs. They’ve naturally been resistant, but we knew what was bound to happen…& then it all DID happen.
We immediately went into crisis mode & scrambled to figure out how to best take care of my Mother for that first little while.
I live an hour away from my parents and the 3 of us kids did the best we could for as long as we could.
My parent’s incredible neighbors, friends, church members, etc also swooped in to help us in this crisis.
My Dad ended up needing a physical rehab facility for more than a month & when he was finally released, he was still very weak.
We essentially had to force both of my parents (who are in their 70’s—not their 90’s) against their will from their home of nearly 45 years and into Assisted Living for their own health and safety.
We had to take away their cars as we (and their doctor) believe they are a danger on the road.

THEY were/are devastated.
WE are devastated.

We helped them both fight thru COVID this Summer & at one point my father fainted & slammed his head hard & ended up in the ICU with a brain hemorrhage.

This is just the tip of the iceberg of what became a full time job for me.
I had to put everything on the back burner.
The trauma & the grief are so heavy.

We are still very much in the thick of it. So much is still unsettled & up in the air.
I am suffering severely from PTSD & it has been terrifying to me.
My nervous system does not want to calm down.
Social media has been a really big (negative) trigger for me & that’s why I’ve stayed off.

We have been cracked wide open & gutted with crushing blows.
But the cracks are how the light gets back in & we hold onto to hope to get through it all.✨

Egg decoration has a long tradition around the world. Families take the time to decorate eggs together for different celebrations, so the eggs have cultural importance, as well as being beautiful works of art.

This is a new personal favorite of mine as I love all the stunning ways a simple, yet beautiful egg can be turned into a masterful art piece.
Among my favorites eggs that I’ve collected over the years are Pyanska eggs from Ukraine.

This year they are so much more special, symbolic, and meaningingful to me.
A symbol of beauty, hope and strength as Ukrainians fight for their freedom from violence, oppression, and tyranny.
May God be with the people of Ukraine. 🇺🇦

. In the spring, a robin sings to find another rob .
In the spring, a robin sings to find another robin. Together, they build a nest with twigs and grass. The mother robin lays the beautiful blue eggs.
She will keep the eggs warm in the nest until they hatch into baby robins.

The father robin protects the babies until they can fly on their own. The perils the babies encounter are many, including snakes and storms. The nest is always their safe place.

Award-winning author-illustrator Henry Cole has re-created the life story of the robin with simple text and stunning artwork. Nesting is the perfect primer for young bird-watchers and nature lovers.
